by William Shakespeare
The Reading Open Air Shakespeare returns in 2013
with one of Shakespeare’s darkest and most powerful tragedies, staged for the third year in the beautifully restored gardens of Caversham Court, nestling on the banks of the River Thames,
close to Caversham Bridge and Reading town centre.
Returning victorious from battle, Macbeth meets three mysterious figures, the Weird Sisters. They unleash a prophecy: Macbeth will be king of Scotland whilst his brother in arms, Banquo, will be father to a line of kings.
Spurred on by his ambitious wife, Macbeth embarks on a murderous path,
but doubts and imaginings plague the Macbeths.
Obsession, madness and betrayal converge as the Sisters continue to influence Macbeth's bloody destiny.
